Cornell Information Technology (CIT) Internship
2022
I currently have a work internship at Cornell University, https://it.cornell.edu. I work on the IT Help Desk. This includes answering questions about Cornell’s email systems, helping to decode error messages, and monitoring the incoming problem queue. I have learned a lot about how to find solutions to tough problems, and how to deal with stressed people.
As part of this internship, I attend IT help desk team meetings. I participate in informational zoom meetings with several executives of Cornell CIT, after preparing questions and researching their backgrounds to find out abou them, their jobs, and their advice for the future.
I have learned a lot techically, but also important have learned social and communication skills for working with team members, supervisors, and clients of the help desk. I have also learned how to work in a remote, distance work enviornment”

CAYUGA MEDICAL CENTER IT INTERN
Summer 2016
I was fortunate to have the opportunity to intern for the IT staff of a regional hospital in Ithaca, NY. The hospital has been installing electronic records management as well as interfacing this system to community doctors for a few years now. The staff is also investigating using microcontrollers such as the Arduino microcontrollers for running equipment primarily to save money. Both the staff and I were surprised that I came to them with much knowledge of using this microcontroller as I played with it extensively in high school.
COMPUTER SCIENCE SHADOW, CBOARD
CBORD, Fall, 2014 to March, 2015
In high school, I was given the opportunity to try out a career, in my case computer science, at a local business. I selected CBORD. This is a very interesting company. It provides equipment to colleges and hospitals to run things like food services. CBORD has a core platform that IT people then customize for specific businesses like Cayuga Medical Center or Ithaca College. The IT people also provide customer service after the customized service is installed in a location. As an intern, I was able to see all of the steps. The person who mentored me also helped me on some of my own programming especially learning how to optimize the programming with assembly code. Although the internship was only supposed to last for 6 weeks, we got on so well that it kept going until I had to quit for tennis team.
ECENTER – ITHACA RECYCLING
Sept. 2013 – Aug. 2016
Ithaca believes strongly in recycling. We also are a college town. Students make excellent customers here. I worked here on and off throughout high school and in fact, occasionally they still send me an email to come in for some emergency. Basically, I moved things and took apart computers.
